HEART OF AMERICA
(C) 2026 by Mike Turner
The winter of twenty-six blew cold
Its chill cut right down to our souls
(Well) ICE lay on the streets so thick
They thought they’d cow us mighty quick
But when they saw just where we stood
They struck down all’s Pretti and Good
In the heart of America
We are a land of immigrants
Where all’s promised an equal chance
But some see “different” as a threat
Who takes what they all want to get
So surge troops come to storm and shout
Round ‘em up and ship ‘em out
From the heart of America
We say this nation stands for liberty
Truth and Justice and Equality
So why have we formed into separate tribes?
Splittin’ up, takin’ opposing sides?
We must restore those things that make us one
Or our country will be over and done
‘Cause if on basic rights we can’t agree
The none of us will ‘e’re be truly free
We need to come through these hard times
Draw back from our battle lines
Meet where there’s consensus found
Reunite on common ground
Let’s give our principles new lease
Join our hands in trust and peace
In the heart of America
In the heart of America
That’s the heart of America
We’re the heart of America
