I was born an American citizen.
I’ve lived here all my life.
I got myself three beautiful kids,
a job, a house, a wife.

But this morning, ICE kicked in a my door
and when it was said and done
​
Well I found myself in a makeshift cell
down in Burlington.
​
And I can hear the people out there singing
And reading out the rights I’ve been denied
And if my God above up a willing
I’ll be out tomorrow, marching by your side
My name is Tamara, I’ve been here since I was 10
Back in 1998, I became a citizen
But yesterday I was handcuffed, no warrant, just a gun
Now I’m sleeping on an ice cold floor down in Burlington

And I can hear the people out there singing
And reading out the rights I’ve been denied
And if my God above up a willing
I’ll be out tomorrow, marching by your side
Now the day will come when the tyrant
is driven from this land.
And we’re gonna have to sit the children down
to help them understand
